Kya Sands
Community Development Initiative: Kya Sands
The Batho Pello Community Co-operative has successfully integrated 3,000 members from the Kya Sands informal settlement—individuals who previously relied on the adjacent illegal dumping site for their livelihoods. This initiative marks a strategic shift from informal subsistence to structured, sustainable economic participation.
Economic Empowerment & Industrial Integration
The primary objective of the co-operative is to facilitate bespoke vocational training designed to bridge the gap to meaningful employment. By leveraging the high volume of vacant industrial infrastructure in Kya Sands, we aim to:
-
Revitalize Local Manufacturing: Transition members into the manufacturing sector by utilizing underused factory spaces.
-
Enhance Safety: Implement a comprehensive security program intended to safeguard the area while creating immediate job opportunities for the community.
Educational Support & Infrastructure Roadmap
Our commitment to the region’s youth began with the provision of essential items, including school shoes and reusable sanitary kits, to two local schools. This serves as the initial phase of a long-term Social Infrastructure Project aimed at transforming these institutions into centers of excellence.
Future developments include the provision of:
-
Academic Essentials: New classrooms, desks, and a dedicated school hall.
-
Sustainable Energy: Implementation of solar power solutions to ensure uninterrupted learning.
-
Recreational Facilities: Installation of a swimming pool and a professional-grade AstroTurf soccer pitch.
Our Vision: To transform Kya Sands through a holistic approach that combines industrial revitalization with a full spectrum of high-quality community amenities.

Project Proposals: Community Development & Sustainable Infrastructure
1. Alexandra Township Economic Empowerment Initiative
Objective: To stimulate local economic growth and create 3,000 sustainable jobs within the Alexandra community.
Strategic Approach: We are seeking capital investment to secure industrial factory space in Wynberg. This facility will serve as a centralized hub for local Small, Medium, and Micro Enterprises (SMMEs), providing them with the infrastructure necessary to scale production across various sectors. A primary focus of this initiative includes the integration of indoor vertical farming, merging food security with high-tech urban manufacturing.
2. Johannesburg Central: Integrated Waste Management Solutions
Objective: To implement a Holistic Waste-to-Energy and Sewage Treatment framework that addresses critical environmental challenges while fostering industrial employment.
Strategic Approach: We intend to engage with the relevant municipal and provincial management levels to present a comprehensive solution for Johannesburg’s central waste infrastructure. By converting municipal and sewage waste into viable energy sources, this project aims to:
-
Mitigate long-standing environmental and public health risks.
-
Stabilize local energy grids through renewable recovery.
-
Generate significant employment opportunities in the green economy and technical maintenance sectors.
